Great Lake Clean Up 2022
The GLAC Clean Up is not just a one-day event to pick up trash from the shoreline, it also provides environmental educational awareness. Eventually that piece of paper, bottle, can, etc. could make its way to the lake or stream that is ultimately a source of drinking water that supplies many families and businesses. In 2022, 10.15 tons of trash and 52 tires were collected and removed from the Lake Allatoona shoreline; however, the lake was .56 feet lower than in 2021. There were 1,641 registered volunteers in 2022 which was almost 300 less registered volunteers than in 2021. This was probably because of the severe weather expected on the lake for the 2022 Clean Up. We are looking forward to a great turnout for the upcoming 2023 Clean Up.
